5-part online Basic Cooking Classes that can be bought individually @ R250 PER CLASS or as a package @ R1100 FOR THE ENTIRE COURSE. These classes are perfect for first time cooks, couples starting to cook together, youngsters wanting to learn the basics, domestics and anyone wanting healthy, easy, everyday recipes.
These videos and the recipes, which are included, will be offered once a week, starting FRIDAY 12 FEBRUARY. You will be sent a link and password which will allow you access to the video/s and recipes for a minimum of six months to watch at your own leisure. It will be like having a visual cookbook!
THE NEW BASIC SERIES CONSISTS OF:
LESSON 1 – CHICKEN
This class will include:
Basic hygiene when cooking with chicken: how to avoid bacteria, such as salmonella, etc.
Different types of chicken pieces and the cooking times needed for each
Marinating chicken, freezing chicken, spicing chicken and dry roasting chicken
How to make a whole roast chicken; juicy grilled chicken breasts – in the oven and in a pan; crumbed chicken breasts in the air fryer
LESSON 2 – FISH
This class will include:
Using fresh fish vs frozen fish
The different types of fish and the best cooking times for each
Different methods for cooking, such as pan frying, grilling, etc.
How to best marinate and season fish
LESSON 3 – VEGETABLES
This class will include:
The different types of vegetables and the best cooking methods, for example: roasting, steaming, microwaving
Making delicious vegetables in the Airfryer
Appropriate cooking times for different vegetables
Different ways of cooking potatoes: Roast potatoes; baked potatoes; Airfryer potatoes and chips
LESSON 4 – STARCHES AND PASTA
This class will include:
The difference between using dry pasta and fresh pasta
Cooking times for different types of pasta
How to make basic pasta dishes, such as Spaghetti Bolognese and simple pasta sauces
Cooking successfully with gluten-free pasta
Cooking with different types of rice: white, brown basmati, jasmine
LESSON 5 – STEWS AND CURRIES
This class will include:
The different cuts of meat and which are the best ones to use
How to use chicken in stews and curries
Making a delicious lamb and/or beef stew, Thai chicken curry, Cape Malay curry and a tasty vegetable curry
